Roof repairs Empty Roof repairs

Post  pearl Tue Oct 21, 2014 3:11 pm

I notice they have begun working on the roof of Bldg#2.
I thought that Buildings #2; #3 and #4 roof repairs were supposed to start in 2015.
Are they going to be working in the winter (snow) months?
Does anyone know what is going on?

Roof repairs Empty Roof repair

Post  sampson Tue Oct 21, 2014 5:59 pm

I asked my friend who lives in Bldg 1 and she says they are "ahead of schedule" and are trying to repair the remaining buildings as soon as possible; so I guess they will try to at least finish Bldg 2 this year. Guess we'll have to see what happens.

Roof repairs Empty Lobby notice

Post  bobo Wed Oct 22, 2014 4:56 pm

I saw a notice on the lobby bulletin board that says something about Building #2 having work done on it into November 2014. A while ago I heard they were behind schedule and now they say they are ahead of schedule. Guess these things change from day to day.

Roof repairs Empty Wondering

Post  franks Thu Oct 23, 2014 5:13 pm

I was just wondering if the people on the 6th floors are having any problems with all the rain these past few days and whether or not the repairmen have carefully covered all the roofs recent "openings" on the roofs to do repair work.
Anyone on the 6th floor have a comment?

Roof repairs Empty Building 3

Post  franks Thu Oct 30, 2014 6:29 pm

I just noticed that they appear to be working on Bldg 3 now. Does anyone know what is going on? There also appears to be so many workmen walking all around the building, in the basement, etc. Sometimes I'm a bit frightened to go into the basement because I don't know who some of these people are.
I wish someone would let us know exactly what is going on with the buildings and whether they are attempting to fix all the buildings' roofs before year end, in the snow, etc.?
And the once beautiful gardens are so messy. Not a nice place to sit any longer.
All so confusing.

I certainly agree with you. There seems to be building material all over the courtyard. And so many workmen walking in and out with there own keys.

I agree with you franks. There appears to be so many repairmen just standing around doing nothing but talking on a cell phone or talking to fellow repairmen. I guess they still get paid regardless of whether they are working or standing around.

Roof repairs Empty Scaffolding going up

Post  scooter Mon Dec 01, 2014 5:33 pm

I notice that they are putting up scaffolding outside building 3 now and down to building 4. Do they intend to work on the roofs throughout the winter? Are they going to leave that scaffolding up all year long into 2015? The scaffolding is still up outside building 5, which was the first building they began working on. It is still there and they are now putting it up outside building 3. It looks just awful and to think they are putting up more scaffolding without taking down previous ones just doesn't make sense to me. It will look awful for the holidays when people come to visit.
It seems that all buildings will have scaffolding outside them, encircling the whole block.
How can they work in the snow, etc.?
Does anyone know what is going on? Certainly confusing for me and my neighbors.

Roof repairs Empty Roof repairs

Post  jimmyk Tue Dec 02, 2014 6:52 pm

I was told that they will be working on the roofs throughout the winter. I wonder how long they will keep up those outside the building scaffold/covers on street level? Guess they will also be up all through the winter months and well into 2015. So unsightly.
And so many repairmen walking around, inside and outside the buildings. They all seem to be speaking Spanish.
I also still notice workmen on the roof of building 5. I wonder how long they have been there since it is the first building they began working on months ago. When will they ever finish?
Anyone have any answers?

Roof repairs Empty Re: Roof repairs

I suspect we will all have to keep guessing. But I do think poor planning by the construction company. I was even told they were working on the roofs the other day while it was raining. How can they be "tearing up" the roof, and breaking into the concrete side walls, while it is raining? Just can't figure it out.

Roof repairs Empty Roof drilling, etc.

Post  georgieh Thu Dec 11, 2014 11:13 am

If they are going to be "drilling," or "hammering," on the roofs, why don't they do that in the afternoon rather than exactly at 8 AM when some people are still sleeping (I work nights and usually sleep until about 11 AM, or a little later)? I guess they can't wait until 10AM or 11AM to start their drilling/hammering..
And the dropping of large objects on the roof can be done quietly. Why do they have to drop the large objects on the roof rather than just setting them down so as not to disturb the folks on the sixth floor who hear that noise magnified.
They just don't appear to understand that there are people living in the 6th Floor apartments right below where they are dropping these heavy objects.
And I think the scaffolding, etc., around all buildings is an eyesore, especially during this holiday season. Why aren't they starting to remove the outside scaffolding, etc., from building 5, which I was told was already completed?
I hope someone is in charge of all these workmen and constantly supervising the work they are doing. There appears to be so many workmen and I can't believe all of them are qualified to be doing all the 'intricate' repairs without supervision, etc.
What do you all think?

Roof repairs Empty Building 4

Post  scooter Thu Dec 11, 2014 3:43 pm

I notice they are now putting the boards up outside building 4. So now all the buildings are surrounded by those (ugly) 'board protection covers.' They seem to be rushing now trying to get all the buildings repaired and I wonder how long those "board protection covers" are going to remain standing? I hope all the workmen know what they are doing and that their work is being inspected regularly as to quality and safety. I wonder if any board member regularly checks the progress of the roofs?

Scooter, I'm told they are still working on Bldg 5. I think it has been a few months so far.

Roof repairs Empty Sure enough more noise

Post  georgieh Tue Dec 23, 2014 12:55 pm

It's been raining all night and this morning and at exactly 8 AM they were once again drilling on the roof (in the rain). I had just gotten to bed (my schedule was changed) and had to get up because I couldn't sleep. You would think that in the rain they wouldn't be doing any repairs on the roof because of possible rain getting into 6th floor apartments.

Scooter, I'm told they are still working on Bldg 5. I think it has been a few months so far.

I've been told also that workmen are still going on the the roof of building 5. There have been working on that building for months already and everyone wonders when they are going to be finished? I can't understand how they can be working on all 6 buildings at the same time. How many repairmen do they have working on these buildings? You would think they would work on one building, finish it completely, and then move on to the next building.
I remember when they said they were behind schedule and had to work on Saturdays. Now they say they are ahead of schedule and yet they are still working on Saturdays. Go figure!

Roof repairs Empty Why Oh Why

Post  me888 Tue Mar 10, 2015 10:14 pm

Why did they ever decide to start roof repairs on ALL buildings at once? So much scaffolding, garden fences, equipment, workmen, etc.
I think that was quite over-kill as one building should have been repaired and then another building started and finished and so on. Rather than doing ALL of the buildings together.
What do you all think?

Roof repairs Empty Still working on 5

Post  me888 Mon Apr 06, 2015 10:38 pm

My friend who lives on the 6th floor in 5 and said she can still hear workmen "running" across the roof during the daytime. How long ago was it that the work was begun on 5 and they are still not finished?
And the courtyard is still useless for sitting, especially since the warm weather is approaching. Me and my friends always sat in the courtyard during the daytime and now will not be able to do so.
